Rope Hanger Stories
Members of the Kakabay tribal community also make rope hangers from abaca fiber or a slightly less expensive version from cotton rope. These hangers work very well with a coconut husk or a rice grass bowl as a container in the bottom.

What is Abaca fiber?
Abaca fiber comes from the abaca plant which is a relative of the banana and is a native plant of the Philippines. The fiber is considered to be the strongest of the natural fibers, being three times stronger than Sisal hemp fiber. Compared to synthetic fibers like rayon and nylon, abaca fiber has higher tensile strength and less tendency to stretch when either wet or dry. These factors establish the fact that natural abaca fiber, has better characteristics than the common man-made fibers.
