Wind Chime Stories
Kakabay Tribal Community: This is a tribal group that was forced to relocate several years ago. Since that time, they have struggled to survive and make a living for their families. They live in a wooded jungle area about half an hour's drive from the Naic area where the coconut crafts are made. These people do excellent work with the rope hangers and the wind chimes. Large amounts of bamboo around their homes makes them ideally situated to make the wind chimes and other bamboo related crafts. The story of Renier is fairly typical of these people to whom the craft projects have been a real blessing.

Bamboo is harvested from the local jungle and...

brought home to dry for using to make the wind chimes.

The chimes are now finished and ready to go.

In this picture is Renier, a young husband and father from the poor village of Kakabay. He and his family ended up homeless after a major Typhoon destroyed their fragile house over a year ago. Now, little by little, Renier is building a new, more solid house, using the money he earns from making crafts to buy supplies. Renier makes rope hangers, bamboo wind chimes, and other crafts.
